I’m Shannon. I’m a cardiac surgery nurse by day, an instructor for new nurses by other day, and a grad student by night. I live in Richmond, Virginia and I love it. I’m begrudgingly single, and while I don’t generally lead with that tidbit when introducing myself, it’s a significant part of why this blog exists, so it seemed worth mentioning.
I love to cook and eat, I draw and paint when the mood strikes, and I have two cats, Ingrid and Seamus, who bring life into my apartment and are always there to greet me when I walk in the door. I get to travel the country for work, and I travel for leisure whenever I can, too (not so much lately though, because you kind of need a substantial amount of disposable income for that). My favorite place I’ve been so far was Iceland in 2016, and I’d love to go back someday. When I’m not traveling, I look for little everyday adventures too, like hiking the Blue Ridge or visiting the James River, experimenting in the kitchen, gardening (if you can call the four flower pots on my back patio a “garden”), exploring restaurants in my neighborhood, or taking mini road trips with my sister.
In the interest of keeping it real, though, I also spend plenty of time on my couch watching The Office, Parks & Rec, and Arrested Development on a continuous loop. With an episode of My 600-Pound Life thrown in now and then to remind me to put away the ice cream.
If any of this sounds relatable to you, I hope you’ll join me as I navigate the ups and downs of being a twentysomething, the practicalities of managing my budget and my schedule, and the process of learning to give thanks and pursue holiness as a young, single, working person.
And, of course, there will be lots of delicious food involved, so it’s cool if you’re just here for the snacks.
